Thank you all for making Japanese Association’s Fall Festival (秋祭り) 2011 a sucess. We apologize for food running out really early (as they are really popular as always : P). However, we are sure that you all enjoyed LoveBall’s takoyaki. We would also like to especially thank our wonderful performers who have made this festival extraordinary. And last but not least, BIG THANKS to all our sponsors: University Co-op, DDCE, Student Government and APAC. We’d like to thank you all for your continued support of JA.

We invite you all to keep in touch with JA by coming to our next general meeting.

Fall Festival 2011

We would like to invite you to our 2011 Fall Festival (Akimatsuri 秋祭り).

Date: November 11, 2011 (Friday)
Time: 7:00 PM
Location: Gregory Gym Plaza

Enjoy a night of wonderful performances including Soranbushi, Tsubomi, Okinawa Tomonokai, Japan Karate Association, UT Kendo, UT Judo, and many more!Enjoy various Japanese food, like yakisoba (stir-fried noodles), okonomiyaki (savory pancake), and much more. Austin’s very own Japanese food trailer, “Love Balls”, will be serving delicious takoyaki (fried dumplings). Also, various game booths (including henna, fan painting, dice matching game and more)  will be available for your enjoyment! Bring your friends and family! Admission is free!

JA is committed to spreading awareness of Japanese culture through social events such as our Fall Festival. We hope to see you there! In the case of bad weather, the event will be moved indoors to UTC 2.102A.

As we enter our final week in our campaign to collect donations to support Japan, we want to once again take the opportunity to thank all of you for your continued support for this worthy cause. It couldn’t have been possible without all of you. As an update on our Tap House Fundraiser, we were able to raise $97! Thank you!

We also want to take a moment to remind of some really cool and important event that are coming up this week!

First, our next general meeting will be tomorrow, Tuesday, April 5th at 7:00pm, and will be held at UTC 3.132. Please come out as we will be making Onigiri for our cultural segment!

Second, on Thursday, April 7th, will will be hosting our Golden Week Volunteer Meeting. Location and time will be announced at the general meeting. For those of you that will not be able to make the general meeting, we will update the website with the exact time and location later on that evening.

Finally, get excited! Our Golden Week Festival: Benefit for Japan event will be taking place at Gregory Gym Plaza this Friday, April 8th at 7pm. Please join us this evening for a fun filled night of music, food, and games. Proceeds from this event will be going to help support Japan. As a request to all of our members, we ask that you show your support by wearing your “Support Japan” shirt or our Golden Week shirt this Friday.

We will still be tabling this week at Gregory Gym to collect donations and sell t-shirts. So, if you haven’t yet gotten a “Support Japan” t-shirt, please stop by and do so!
